Okay, so I haven't blogged for a long time. Clint was supposed to do a couple about skiing and stuff, but he lost his motivation and I haven't felt like writing either.
If anyone does read this, you're lucky because I have a migraine right now and quite frankly, maybe you're not so lucky because I am actually quite frustrated right now.
I am jobless right now, which means that I went out and bought expensive paper to print my resume on because I am that desperate. I live in Rexburg, still don't have my associate's degree, and mornings don't make for a happier me. So, I'm trying to tailor my resume to each job I apply for and printing on fancy paper, all the good stuff, in an effort to secure some kind of employment.
I'm cranky and miserable and lonely and therefore venting, because Clint's sound asleep from working 8+ hours the past two days and I can't wake him up and talk to him because it's the middle of the night and doesn't understand what's going on if I do.
Basically, I have nothing to convince me this is going to end anytime soon and I feel kinda jilted by it all.
Sigh, I can't even eat chocolate cuz I'm trying to tone my muffin top tummy down.

I got in! I got in!
Okay, so to preface the exciting news, a flashback from before I started blogging is in order. We are journeying back to Friday, October 3, 2008 at 6:44am...
So I'm winding down from being hyped up on Mountain Dew right now. However, I feel like writing to you about some stuff I've been doing and future plans I now have in the works which I've articulated a bit better in my plans.
I currently attend BYU-I in Rexburg, ID with sophomore status credit wise. Just 3 weeks after graduating high school I came here as a Nursing major in the middle of the summer of 2005. Ever since I was little, I think probably around 5 years old, the idea of being in medicine fascinated me. I loved my cousin's doctor play kit and at one point my parents gave me my own REAL stethoscope, otoscope (ear checker), opthalmoscope(eye checker), and blood pressure cuff with sphygmomanometer.
*In case you're wondering I've been an A+ speller definitively since the fifth grade (developing before that, but still really good).
So I played doctor and imagined being a mom and stuff. When I got into High School they had classes for health occupations that I started taking cuz I didn't want to do the normal boring health education class that I knew would be like the one I did in Junior High and didn't enjoy. I had two options for programs I could do in High School and earn college credit for: sports medicine or certified nurses assistant. I opted for CNA since I'm not keen on seeing jock itch, smelling sweaty athletes, or cleaning up bloody noses and broken teeth. I really would have been well enough off without doing either one.
The CNA program took 2 hours a day, cost probably about $1000-$1500 (which required my parents and I to sacrifice for me and the program) when all was said and done, and was not altogether enjoyable once I got about a fourth or a third into it. I ended up aggravating the teacher, alienating my peers, and being disgusted and tortured by most of my clinicals. Enduring the poor ethics, sanitation, and morals of the workplace and co-"professionals" was hardly encouraging me in my sincere desire to be a registered nurse in the neo-natal field. Plus I didn't feel comfortable in the social scene or doing fundraisers or my anatomy and physiology class which required the dissection of cats. Ihl(shudder).
I did pull A's in the program and even earned 3rd place and a chance to go to nationals in a nursing competition. Couldn't afford the competition and wasn't interested either. I never wanted to go to the state competition anyway. However, I also came out scared of pursuing my dream to be a nurse, broke, and disheartened at ever being likable as a friend and person because of the social blunder I was.
My senior year, I tried to come out of being a loner and do more things with people I knew. I relaxed and enjoyed British Literature, Government (one of the most awesome teachers ever!), and ASL. I also made pretty good friends with 2 girls in my English class. I'm only in touch with one still.
When it came time for college, I was still set on nursing. I only applied to 2 schools. BYU-Idaho and College of Southern Idaho. I was also accepted to ISU (blech) without even applying there and they wanted to give me a pathetic amount of money that wouldn't even cover tuition and to join their honors program. I never did honors classes in high school other than being in advanced math classes up to algebra 2 and honors english. CSI accepted me only as an alternate to their nursing program though so I went with BYU-Idaho...cheaper and in a bubble.
Well, I completed Anatomy and Physiology (again)--8 credits, 7 weeks, 5 hours a day M-F--pulled an A- in the course. Got scared by the idea of going through the hells of CNA training again required by the university---turns out I never needed to go through the program in high school; it's part of the degree at most places that offer a Nursing Associates option instead of just an LPN program that takes 1 year and 1/2 + the 3 year RN program. Plus I didn't have a lot of money or time for a job with the classes I was supposed to take, no car, and I wasn't sure about nursing anymore.
Switched my major to an associates in general studies. Reapplied for nursing about a year later, got rejected. That was really depressing. I didn't attend school the rest of that year. Too poor and dejected.
*BTW, I do have a best friend by this point. She was my first room-roommate and the sister I didn't know I was missing. She also said she would be comfortable with me being her nurse, could picture me as a nurse, that I would be a good nurse. She was a bridesmaid at my wedding. I love you to death Jojo!
Let's fast forward to...Thanksgiving last year. Just before the break, I changed my major to Health Science with my emphasis in Health Promotion and Lifetime Wellness (*they just changed the name to Community and Worksite Wellness). My minor was Chinese...my sister lives in China and I was hoping to learn the language so I could help her and her kids keep it when they come back to the states. Plus 2 of her kids are really young and I wasn't sure they'd remember any English.
Fast forward to this year...I failed a chinese class. Ever since I dropped out of nursing, it's always been in the back of my mind. Being clueless as to what I wanted to do and would be comfortable doing besides nursing or something in the medical field, I've felt like I'm tip toeing slowly around my new major. Around Christmas time last year I talked to my wise and amazing sister in law about this. She said she could picture me working as a nurse in an OBGYN clinic/office. I started thinking about nursing again.
Well, this semester I got emails inviting me to an orientation about my major. Today I went to this month's orientation! I changed my minor to....: Medical Assisting! I don't have to relive the nightmares of the CNA! And I've decided that when I graduate from BYU-I I'm going to certify to be a Doula (a non medical assistant who provides the mom with assistance both physical and emotional before, during, &/or after childbirth). Also, I used to visit teach a girl who got me thinking about the following: ISU has an online program to become a medical transcriptionist. You type doctor's notes and stuff...I'm good at medical terminology (helps that I'm good at spelling!)...it takes a year or less...almost applied for it this year but didn't. For sure I'll apply next year! So I am going to be employable! Be able to do what I'm good at. Work with mother's and babies...the field I most love! Yea! It's a jump--I'm kinda nervous and scared, but I think this is the best fit for me so far! Hallelujah!
Present Day:
Okay so remember that I don't like ISU (refer to blech comment above in paragraph 7) but that I said I was going to apply to their online medical transcriptionist program that they have. Confused? Don't be...only reason I'm okay with doing the program through ISU is it is online and I don't ever have to set foot on their campus to complete it. YAY!
How'd all this come about?
Well when Clint and I got engaged, he knew I was planning to do the program but we decided not to apply last year so we could explore our options with timing first and so I could try to get my GPA up a lil bit more. A couple of weeks into this year, we decided that I should go ahead and apply. I called on Wednesday to see if they had received all my paperwork and they had. The woman on the phone said my ACT scores looked really good and that I probably had a really good chance of getting in. I was excited because when I first started my application the program was full and so I would have been put on the waiting list. That would have been great too, but when I called today the lady actually put me into the program while we were on the phone! So, it's OFFICIAL! I will receive an acceptance letter soon and start classes in the Fall!
Note: I won't be attending BYU-Idaho while I am working on this program because it is 26 credits, full-time, and I have a year to complete it. If you want to know more about what it is I'm getting into, follow this link: http://online.onetcenter.org/link/summary/31-9094.00

The Flu
So after being sick for 5 days, we finally went in to the doctor and they diagnosed me with Upper Respiratory Flu. Apparently I'd been contagious this whole time and unfortunately I'd babysat and gone to class one of those days...at least it was towards the end. Anyway, since my foot was still bothering me, they did an X-ray...no fractures! That was the best news. So they gave me Sudafed and Delsym and we went out and bought a humidifier (if you don't have one, they're really nice to have in dry places like Idaho whether you're sick or not). Clint also bought me a cute teddy bear that reminds me of Bear from 'Bear in the Big Blue House' but his nose is blue and the heart that teddy holds says 'kiss me' on it is blue too. We both cuddle him when the other is not in bed and sometimes call him 'Foofy' because of 'Madagascar 2.'
We figured Clint had escaped getting sick since I was past being contagious and he was still feeling good....but Thursday night he didn't feel good and called in sick the next morning and skipped classes with me. He was supposed to make his big debut of running the lighting board by himself for his job at the school that Saturday but he was too sick and couldn't go :( I'm sorry honey!
Now it's a week after that and Clint's missed work and he's still feeling yucky at bedtime and waking up; whereas I'm doing much better overall...just a minor residual cough and sniffles.
We went to Pocatello yesterday to see my family. My sister Elise was in town to see my brand new niece and we wanted to see my brother Ben, his wife Julie, and their son James because they are moving to Texas in June and we may not make it down that way again even when the semester ends. We had dinner at my grandma's and I got to watch James crawl...he's so big now but still as handsome and cute as ever!
Meeting my new niece, Hannah Celeste, was great! She has HUGE chubby cheeks (her nickname in the hospital nursery was cheeky) and her chin falls back--like caves in--it's so FUNNY--especially when she cries because it quivers. I still felt sad for her when she cried even though it was funny because she's having a hard time eating with her cheeks in the way and can't pull her bottom lip up to suck very well. She has really long toes and fingers that are so cute and she has even grabbed her mom's nose with her toes like a monkey!
We also went to some stores to look at ski equipment but that adventure is for Clint to tell you about since it was more exciting for him.
My love with hugs to all of you! Check out my facebook for pictures of my niece and a video of my nephew! (I haven't figured out how to put that stuff on my blog yet or how I want to display them). Blog more to ya later!

Valentine's Day
I was so excited for Valentine's Day to come this year...Clint had made plans and love was in the air with 2 of my friends being newly engaged this week! I was going to go dress shopping with one of them, although she'd tried on my wedding dress and loved it...basically I was ready for some fun.
Well, blasted doldrums, wouldn't you know it...I got sick! Since I only work 2 nights a week now instead of every night I was trying to catch up and take care of the house so Clint wouldn't have to worry about it like he has been the past month when I've been gone. I did 6 loads of laundry Monday night, didn't wear a coat cuz I figured I'd get too warm and it'd be bulky which I didn't need in my way with all the stuff I was hauling. Well I hurt my shoulder carrying everything. Then Wednesday night at work one of the kids knocked some stuff over off a lil side table...a glass decorative block with etching and a ribbon tied around it to be specific...landed on my foot! I have a huge bruise and am still not completely pain free. (Lil Side Note: In my English 316 class on Thursday we learned a word for pain in the ankle or heel of your foot...Tralalgla...try saying that 9 times fast!) As the weekend approached, I really didn't want to go to work on Saturday, not just because of the occasion, but also because I have been so tired and I did not treasure the thought that my foot could possibly be stepped on or re-injured. I joked with Clint that maybe I would get a lil cold and then I could call in sick. Ta-da! Friday night, I started to feel an earache, sore throat, congestion, and cough--a 'lil' cold.
Valentine's Day was still wonderful despite my ailment. I slept in till 4:30. Clint came home and told me we were going to take down the Christmas tree and put something else special in it's place...a dozen beautiful roses with pretty lil sprigs of what look like sweet pea blossoms...AND a card! Allthough he'd planned something else for dinner, he made me chicken noodle soup instead...FROM SCRATCH! Chopped carrots, celery and onion, spices, noodles, and chicken...YUM! It was so good...and to top that off he made Cinnamon Rolls...all by himself (except I gave him a lil advice once or twice and he let me spread the butter on them before he put the sugar on and rolled them up)...they were AMAZING! Mmmm Mm Mm Mm Mmmmm!
I love my husband! We relaxed in the living room and watched tv till 2am before going to bed. It was loverly!
